We unfortunately could not go snorkeling because upon arrival to Islas Marietas, there were jellyfish everywhere. In lieu of snorkeling, Margarita took us on a humpback whale watching tour, which was terrific. I’d definitely recommend taking a whale watching tour with Ecotours and Margarita. Amalie Hansen2025-03-10 Rafael and Michael took such good care of us. Did this tour with my 88 year old grandmother and her granddaughters. We learned all about the whales and the importance of protecting them. And saw so many different whales through the morning! So appreciative of the companies environment practices and researching being done to protect this beautiful environment 🐋🌊 Minerva Zamora2025-03-09 I love ecotours. They are owned and run by a couple of biologist, and you can see their love for wildlife in everything they do. I believe they were also the first in the bay to use underwater microphones to let you hear the whales singing, a magical experience!! Hazel Thornicroft2025-02-28 Such fantastic experience with Ecotours. I can't recommend them enough and Maggie, who was our guide on two trips. She has so much knowledge on the eco systems and wildlife. She is kind, supportive and enthusiastic. She helped me get through the tunnel to the Mariatas beach and arranged a special gluten free vegan roll for lunch. We took the hike and snorkel trip. The hike was really beautiful and not long, although could get steep and slippery in places. The Mariatas trip we took next was really lovely. We got to hear all about the birds and how they take care of the area. The beach was worth visiting, although slightly scary getting through the tunnel! On the way back we saw a few whales. One was close by so we stopped Maggie put a hydrophone into the water so we could listen to it's song! It was incredible! Go to see these guys because they really care about them environment! Jon Carnill2025-02-28 We did 2 birding tours, the Sierra Madre/El Tuito and the Military Macaw Sanctuary. We thoroughly enjoyed both, Cynthia and Michael were great guides, and each tour offered something a little different. I would say the Macaw Sanctuary tour is a little more ideal to bird photographers. Pick up and drop off was super convenient, both guides took us great places for lunch, and we will definitely do another excursion with Ecotours when we return. Mike Hardie2025-02-24 We had an incredible whale watching experience here. The best! Pier-Luc Long2025-02-24 Had an amazing experience with Maggie as our tour guide. We saw many whales breach, a mother and her calf, and dolphins. It was an amazing experience, completely worth the cost. The session starts with 15-20 minutes explaining types of whales, what we’ll see in Banderas Bay in terms of whales, super informative. Then we went out for 3 hours on the water, seeking the beautiful animals. You can tell Maggie has a great respect for the whales and the oceans, she was very inspiring. Suzan Zielke2025-02-23 We went on the El Tuito : birds of the Southern Sierra tour in February. It was excellent! Our guide Michael was extremely knowledgeable and was able to find us many birds. He was a perfect guide for this tour! The stop at the bakery in the morning was wonderful. Michael kept a list of the birds we saw that day and shared it with us. We spent a fair bit of time at Rancho Primavera Bird Sanctuary. It is truly an amazing place! The stop in El Tuito was fun and the snacks (we purchased our own lunch) at the local Mexican restaurant were fantastic! Would highly recommend this tour! Harsh Srivastava2025-02-19 Cynthia and Martin were the best tour guides we could have hoped for. The whole tour was super informative, right from the beginning watching their in-house video and throughout the boat ride as well. We spent roughly three and a half hours out in the ocean and saw a LOT of whale pods, dolphins and it was just beautiful!! Ki TM2025-02-18 Our whale watching tour was absolutely amazing! It starts with an interesting presentation about whales, so you learn a lot before heading out on the water. The guide was so passionate and knowledgeable, which made the whole experience even better. We were lucky enough to see two different groups of whales, each demonstarting different behaviors. Such a cool and unforgettable experience!
